From Russia...With Love

Philadelphia Flyers' Danny Markov (55) of Russia celebrates his game-winning goal against the New Jersey Devils in the third period of their first-round NHL playoffs series game Saturday, April 17, 2004, in Philadelphia. Revenge is soooooooooo sweet! Four years ago the New Jersey Devils overcame a three games to one deficit to rally and beat the Philadelphia Flyers in Game 7 of the Stanley Cup Play-offs.

Saturday, amidst much speculation by the media that New Jersey could repeat and once again overcome being down three games to one, Danny Markov blasted a slapshot past Devil's Goalie, Martin Brodeur and propelled the Philadelphia Flyers to round two, exorcising the Ghosts of Season's Past and sending the New Jersey Devil's to the golf course in the First Round.

Go Flyers!

UPDATE

It has just been reported that New Jersey Devil's Coach, Pat Burns, who missed two practices last week for unknown reasons, has colon cancer. I am sure that I am joined by All Flyer's Fans and fans of Hockey everywhere in wishing Pat and his family the best. Let's all hope for a speedy recovery.

Get well, Pat. We look forward to continuing the rivalry next year with you at the helm of the Devils.
