LAS VEGAS - Ricky Hatton spent most of his career fighting before friendly crowds in his native England. Maybe that's why he felt so at home Saturday night just off the Las Vegas Strip. With thousands of his countrymen coming over from England to cheer him on, Hatton needed just one big punch to stop Jose Luis Castillo to solidify his spot as the best 140-pounder in the world.
(more)What a night! What a fight! With 11,000 of his adoring fans, who made the pilgrimage from the United Kingdom to the Mecca of Boxing, Las Vegas, beating drums, playing horns and singing wildly, Ricky "The Hitman" Hatton, demolished Jose Luis Castillo in Round 4 of their championship fight last night, cementing his legacy as the best 140 lb fighter in the world!
From the moment he entered the arena to the sounds of his trademark entrance song, Blue Moon, the Union Jack once again dominated the American landscape as each thundering blow was greeted by an explosion of cheers! Never missing a beat, Ricky drove the arena into a frenzy of wildly screaming mayhem. In all my years as a fan of boxing I have never witnessed such an exciting event! God Save The Queen still rings in my ears!
Unbelievable fighter...unbelievable fight. Ladies and Gents, Brothers and Sisters, meet my new favorite fighter. Aman who fights from the heart. A man a Marine could love.
