Because of Iraq...

I'm going to keep hammering away on this until 2008! Let's not lose sight of what we're fighting for here!

That's it for today, folks. I'm off to a funeral. More on that later.

Keep Faith. Keep Fighting Back!

Bill Richardson

Bill Richardson has announced that he is throwing his hat in the Presidential Ring. Now I gotta admit, I like a Parlor-Trician who has a sense of humor and after viewing the ad above, I gotta say, it's the best one yet!

But what does the guy really bring to the table?

Well, in an effort to investigate all of the Democratic Candidates for President, I offer a view of New Mexico Governor, Bill Richardson. (I'm not bothering with the Republi-cons, I've already seen what they bring - nothing - they take! And don't tell me "this one's different!" - they had six years to be "different" and all they did was rubberstamp Bushco's warped and un-American activites)

With that being said, I give you the serious side of Bill Richardson:

There's No bizniz...

(From "Annie Get Your Gun", MGM, 1950, starring Betty Hutton as Calamity Jane and Howard Keel as Frank Butler)

Got the call last night. I start in two weeks. No I don't know what the job is. I do know it's at the Oldest Operating Motion Picture Studio in the world - Kaufman-Astoria, affectionately known as "The Big House". Buster Keaton filmed here. so did the Keystone Cops, Charlie Chaplin and many more greats too numerous to mention.

Gotta tell ya, I'm chomping at the bit. It's not so much a job that I miss, it's the way of life. Almost all of my "real life" friends are in the business and almost all of them live in New York. Between shows I live in Philly with my Mags, so after awhile I really start to miss these mutts. We work hard and play hard. We are the living example of what Gung Ho really means - "work together". We are the best in the world at what we do, motion pictures, and we are extremely proud of that.. It is that pride, in our work, in our product, in ourselves and each other, that makes us so special. We will not be outdone, plain and simple. When you come to New York City to shoot a movie, you are getting the "A" Team for your crew. There is none better anywhere at any price.

So I'll be heading to Brooklyn this weekend to get the apartment ready again and then a week later I'll be heading North. Things are going to get real quiet here at deuddersun's, but you all have each other and I'll be back from time to time to chime in with my two cents.

Time for me to kick the tires and light the fires!

Quiet on the Set, please!!!!!

Me brudder, scroff, (not a hippie), left a comment concerning an old web-friend of ours who is a Hippie! For a wonderfull walk down Memory Lane, or for a treasure-trove of '60's related stuff, go visit Pieman.

Scroff at Woodstock '94
(Looks Like a Hippie, Smells Like a Hippie, Sounds Like a Hippie)

This guy is the real deal! And he is still very active in the movement. As
scroff (not a Hippie) put it:

"Pie Man is the guy who used to throw pies in the face of notable persons and politicians... he's still alive and well and living in NY... go check him out, raise his hit count, he'd appreciate the visit, believe me!"

Remember the SDS? I remember being on a college campus not too long ago and asking one of the students where the SDS office was?

"Student Duplicating Services?, Not sure. Check the map on the kiosk."

Sigh...Has it really been that long? To find out what SDS really stood for and other fabulous '60's facts, as well as Calls to Action, visit Pieman.

Superbowl XLI Highlights

Okay, so the title is a little misleading, but hey, I'm a Eagles fan, Yo Adrian!

That being said, I gotta tell ya I have never been a fan of Prince or the Artist Formerly Known As Prince, or whatever moniker he's going under now. I was way too Heavy Metal in the '80's to even consider listening to what I considered a "pop" act.

Well, all that changed last night.

A few short years ago this concert wouldn't have been allowed. Back in the days when I worked in Rock & Roll, microphones and electric guitars had cords so the risk of electrocution would have been too great to chance. Now, with everything being "wireless", that doesn't seem to be a concern. The rain was so heavy, CBS said they were constantly changing from one to the other of their 48 cameras in order to give the crew time to wipe the lenses. A miserable night for sure.

That didn't stop Prince and that is what initially earned my admiration. "The Show Must Go On" is more than just a saying to those of us in the "biz", it is our creed. And Prince lived up to it Big Time! When many another of today's pampered "Stars" may have balked at doing an open air show in weather like this, Prince gave his heart and soul and even infused the downpour with his closing song, "Purple Rain".

The second thing that won me over was his talent on the guitar. Not since the original Guitar God, Jimi Hendrix have I heard a musician bend a riff like Prince did last night. In fact, there are times during his performance when I can almost see Jimi, a shadow in the background, bending the notes like only he could do, until now. And, a bonus! No bare, brown boobies to corrupt the kiddies and undermine the sanctity of Marriage and the Integrity of the Amerikan Family!

So if you missed it, here it is in two parts. Enjoy!

Oh yeah, the Colts won.

The Times They Are A-Changin'

I am posting this video as a prelude, an introduction of sorts to the post below. I apologize for all the credits and the overall grainy look, but it was that look which convinced me that this was the "right" video. It has a '60's feel to it, a "get back to the land" quality. Or perhaps, more aptly, a "get back to the Garden" quality.

Heed it's warning, for it still rings true. The Times They Are A-Changin'.
