What A Weekend!

damagster's Pride & Joy

We had quite a few plans for this past weekend. None of them included this.

Friday night I got a phone call from damagster. She was upset and shaken, (but not crying, magster is a tough little tomato). It seems she had been waiting to make a left turn onto I-95, on her way home from work, when a Lexus, attempting to beat an SUV, hit her. The oncoming lanes were reduced at that point, from two lanes to one, due to roadwork and this idiot decided he had to get there first. He wasn't even close.

I'm not going to say anymore about this due to legal ramifications, but, fortunately, no-one was seriously injured, (Mags is very sore, with a huge bruise where her shoulder harness was, a cut leg and a fat lip). I spent Saturday taking pictures like the one above and getting Police reports, etc.

So now we have to decide what to do about another car. We still have my Dodge Ram pick-up and a little Mitsubishi puddle-jumper, but that car was Mag's baby. I have wanted to get her a new car for some time, but she loved that one, so I redid it for her to the tune of $8,000. For the record it's a 1988 Oldsmobile Cutlass Supreme with a new engine, paint job, vinyl roof, sound system, etc., etc. Monday I'm having it towed to a buddy's body shop and if the frame isn't bent, I'll get it rebuilt again. Hey, it's gonna cost me either way, buy a new one or fix the old one. Since she loves this car so much, well...

On the other hand, if it can't be made right, I kinda like the Chrysler Crossfire or the Caddy CTS-V, but it's not up to me, it's up to my Lady. Either way, we'll be allright.

New Links!!!!!!!!!

deuddersun contemplating his next post!

Well, my little self-imposed holiday is about to come to an end. Back to work next Wednesday! So, instead of just laying around, uh, contemplating, I decided to update my links.

First is a fellow Marine who, although no longer allowed to use power tools, still wields a mighty pen! With a love of boobies of all shapes, ages and sizes and an admirable appreciation for Jerry Lee Lewis, his blog is an enjoyable daily read for me as well as an educational experience. With that being said I give you The Moderate Man!

Right wingers beware! The man behind the blog is a United States Marine Corps Combat Vet who will rip off your head and shit down your neck!

Next is Mccs 1977. I am not as familiar with this site as I am of The Moderate Man. I came across it from a comment posted here under my tribute to Paul Gill. The site intrigued me, so I am including it.

The last two for today are Fixer & Gordon and The Alternate Brain, both good reads. Do yourself a favor and give them a look. You won't be sorry.

Well, that about sums it up. Gotta go finish working on my soil pipe so I can hit my other pipe and get back to contemplating before the cruel interruption of "work" invades my otherwise tranquill lifestyle again.

Pax tibi and Semper Fi!

Let's Keep The Left Right!!

VFW member at a speech given by George W. Bush to the Veterans of Foreign Wars expresses his opinion of what he is hearing from the Commander In Chief.

In a recent post at Any Which Way, mybrother, scroff, featured a new Televison Ad attacking Sen. George Allen, Republican, of Virginia, by a new Left-leaning Veterans group, VoteVets.org.

The ad claims that Sen. Allen voted against giving our troops in Iraq the new body armor and states that our troops were given Viet Nam Era body armor instead. This point is driven home graphically when two sets of body armor, one, supposedly from the Viet Nam era and the other, modern, are shot with an AK-47 at a range of about 50 feet. When the armor is ripped open, the mannequin with the old body armor shows three bullet wounds, the modern armor does not, thus implying that Sen. Allen is somehow responsible for American casualties in Iraq. Great ad.

Except for one thing - it isn't true.

In an update, featured prominently on the Front Page of Any Which Way, scroff exposes this ad and expresses his disgust at the tactics being employed in it. Why is this important?

The most valuable weapon we have against the Neo-cons is the truth. Unlike most on the Right, who will vehemently defend the lies being handed them by our current administration, in spite of hard facts to the contrary, we on the Left must surely take the higher ground. Not only must we expose the lies of this administration and it's supporters, it is our duty to ensure that what we say and do is right and true.

Good job, Bro.

Let's all work to make sure no one shows up at one of our events wearing "Bullshit Protectors"!

Let's keep the Left Right!

d.

UPDATE:

Never one to leave any stone unturned, scroff wrote to VoteVets.org, questioning the veracity of their ad. Seems they were right all along! I have to wonder how many Right-leaning bloggers would go through all this trouble to verify a post!

Anyway, kudos to scroff! For the Whole story, click on the link below!

VoteVets

Now that's what I call keeping the Left, Right!

FURTHER UPDATE:

For those of you who have been following this here, (that would be you Fred), there is a further update. Media Matters has weighed in on the side of VoteVets.org. You can find their investigation and conclusion through the link above, under UPDATE.

Goddam Leftwing Moonbats!!!!!

I am so sick and tired of those Goddam Leftwing Moonbats criticizing our President, our Country and our closest, most beloved ally, Israel!

The article below is un-patriotic and un-Godly! It betrays all of the principals and morals that those on the Right embrace. Read it, therefore, away from the children, lest their innocent eyes accidentally fall upon it, and keep a bucket handy for the natural, physical reaction that I know you will experience!

Where are the Christians?

When Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert unleashed his navy and air force on Lebanon, accusing that tiny nation of an "act of war," the last pillar of Bush's Middle East policy collapsed.

First came capitulation on the Bush Doctrine, as Pyongyang and Tehran defied Bush's dictum: The world's worst regimes will not be allowed to acquire the world's worst weapons. Then came suspension of the democracy crusade as Islamic militants exploited free elections to advance to power and office in Egypt, Lebanon, Gaza, the West Bank, Iraq and Iran.

Now, Israel's rampage against a defenseless Lebanon – smashing airport runways, fuel tanks, power plants, gas stations, lighthouses, bridges, roads and the occasional refugee convoy – has exposed Bush's folly in subcontracting U.S. policy out to Tel Aviv, thus making Israel the custodian of our reputation and interests in the Middle East.

The Lebanon that Israel, with Bush's blessing, is smashing up has a pro-American government, heretofore considered a shining example of his democracy crusade. Yet, asked in St. Petersburg if he would urge Israel to use restraint in its airstrikes, Bush sounded less like the leader of the Free World than some bellicose city councilman from Brooklyn Heights.

What Israel is up to was described by its army chief of staff, Lt. Gen. Dan Halutz, when he threatened to "turn back the clock in Lebanon 20 years."

Olmert seized upon Hezbollah's capture of two Israeli soldiers to unleash the IDF in a pre-planned attack to make the Lebanese people suffer until the Lebanese government disarms Hezbollah, a task the Israeli army could not accomplish in 18 years of occupation.

Israel is doing the same to the Palestinians. To punish these people for the crime of electing Hamas, Olmert imposed an economic blockade of Gaza and the West Bank and withheld the $50 million in monthly tax and customs receipts due the Palestinians.

Then, Israel instructed the United States to terminate all aid to the Palestinian Authority, though Bush himself had called for the elections and for the participation of Hamas. Our Crawford cowboy meekly complied.

The predictable result: Fatah and Hamas fell to fratricidal fighting, and Hamas militants began launching Qassam rockets over the fence from Gaza into Israel. Hamas then tunneled into Israel, killed two soldiers, captured one, took him back into Gaza and demanded a prisoner exchange.

Israel's response was to abduct half of the Palestinian cabinet and parliament and blow up a $50 million U.S.-insured power plant. That cut off electricity for half a million Palestinians. Their food spoiled, their water could not be purified, and their families sweltered in the summer heat of the Gaza desert. One family of seven was wiped out on a beach by what the IDF assures us was an errant artillery shell.

Let it be said: Israel has a right to defend herself, a right to counter-attack against Hezbollah and Hamas, a right to clean out bases from which Katyusha or Qassam rockets are being fired and a right to occupy land from which attacks are mounted on her people.

But what Israel is doing is imposing deliberate suffering on civilians, collective punishment on innocent people, to force them to do something they are powerless to do: disarm the gunmen among them. Such a policy violates international law and comports neither with our values nor our interests. It is un-American and un-Christian.

But where are the Christians? Why is Pope Benedict virtually alone among Christian leaders to have spoken out against what is being done to Lebanese Christians and Muslims?

When al-Qaida captured two U.S. soldiers and barbarically butchered them, the U.S. Army did not smash power plants across the Sunni Triangle. Why then is Bush not only silent but openly supportive when Israelis do this?

Democrats attack Bush for crimes of which he is not guilty, including Haditha and Abu Ghraib. Why are they, too, silent when Israel pursues a conscious policy of collective punishment of innocent peoples?

Britain's diplomatic goal in two world wars was to bring the naive cousins in, to "pull their chestnuts out of the fire." Israel and her paid and pro-bono agents here appear determined to expand the Iraq war into Syria and Iran, and have America fight and finish all of Israel's enemies.

That Tel Aviv is maneuvering us to fight its wars is understandable. That Americans are ignorant of, or complicit in this, is deplorable.

Already, Bush is ranting about Syria being behind the Hezbollah capture of the Israeli soldiers.

But where is the proof?

Who is whispering in his ear? The same people who told him Iraq was maybe months away from an atom bomb, that an invasion would be a "cakewalk," that he would be Churchill, that U.S. troops would be greeted with candy and flowers, that democracy would break out across the region, that Palestinians and Israelis would then sit down and make peace?

How much must America pay for the education of this man?
